Dating in 2014 is having NO TEXTING ETIQUETTE.

Dating in 2014 is the extinction of courting.

Dating in 2014 is men doing the bare minimum but expecting the most.

Dating in 2014 is too many “Come see me” dudes, and not enough “I’d like to take you out” dudes.

Dating in 2014 is the result of the social media takeover.

Dating in 2014 is mostly swiping left, barely swiping right.

Dating in 2014 is Plenty of Fish and Ok Cupid.

Dating in 2014 is getting know someone through their 347 Instagram pictures, and coming up with a conclusion about who they are all before the first date.

Dating in 2014 is Facebooking and Googling someone you are dating, to see if there’s something you can find out about them that they aren’t telling you.

Dating in 2014 is having an even greater opportunity to be connected to anyone in the world, all with the click of a mouse.

Dating in 2014 is wanting instant gratification.

Dating in 2014 is inconsistency.

Dating in 2014 is being more interested in what’s going on in your phone than the person you’re spending “quality time” with.

Dating in 2014 is men playing hard to get more than women.

Dating in 2014 is seeing a text from the opposite sex, and responding an hour later, to make it seem like you’re so busy.

Dating in 2014 is quantity over quality.

Dating in 2014 is bypassing the person who may be the one, because you “aren’t ready to be locked down”.

Dating in 2014 is trying going back to that person, only to realize they’ve moved on.

Dating in 2014 is liking someone who doesn’t pay you any mind until after you’ve moved on.

Dating in 2014 is the dreaded gray area.

Dating in 2014 is not knowing.

Dating in 2014 is not knowing.

Dating in 2014 is not knowing where you stand with the person you’ve been seeing.

Dating in 2014 is talking to someone for almost a year, only to find out they are already in a relationship with someone else.

Dating in 2014 is dealing with people who are not who they say they are.

Dating in 2014 is dealing with facades and “representatives”.

Dating in 2014 is telling people you don’t want to give your number to, that you have a boyfriend.

Dating in 2014 is not having the courage to tell someone you’d rather be friends, because you know once you tell them that, they won’t want to be your friend.

Dating in 2014 is breaking up with someone you weren’t really in a relationship with in the first place.

Dating in 2014 is friend-zoning.

Dating in 2014 is rejection.

Dating in 2014 is not making a move because you are scared of rejection.

Dating in 2014 is not making a move because you feel like if the other person liked you like that, then they would’ve made the move already.

Dating in 2014 is dealing with the perils of cuffing season.

Dating in 2014 is dodging the bouquet when its thrown at your friend’s wedding because you know you are nowhere close to getting married.

Dating in 2014 is people asking you why you’re single.

Dating in 2014 is relating to “Sex And The City”.

Dating in 2014 is listening to a lot of Drake and Jodeci and Jagged Edge.

Dating in 2014 is sleeping alone when you just want a cuddle buddy.

Dating in 2014 is dating yourself more than anyone else.

Dating in 2014 is having 3 dates lined up for one week and none lined up for a whole month after.

Dating in 2014 is having a million first dates and a few second and third ones, because you’ve realized you just weren’t that into them.

Dating in 2014 is people you have no interest in being consistent in keeping in touch.

Dating in 2014 is people who you have an interest in doing the opposite.

Dating in 2014 is wishing the people you were interested in would treat you like the ones that you’re not interested in.

Dating in 2014 is dealing with clingy or thirsty people.

Dating in 2014 is getting a “good morning” text from the wrong person.

Dating in 2014 is wondering why they never texted.

Dating in 2014 is wondering why they never called.

Dating in 2014 is someone begging for your time, only for it to be wasted.

Dating in 2014 is the person you thought you had a connection with hitting you up out the blue, after not hearing from them in 2 months.

Dating in 2014 is deciding that you aren’t going to speak to the person you’re dealing with anymore.

Dating in 2014 is keeping said person’s contact info in your phone, so that if they ever call, you know not to answer.

Dating in 2014 is having multiple “Don’t Answer”s in your phone contact log.

Dating in 2014 is relating to “Being Mary Jane“, but hoping that by the time you are Mary Jane’s age, you’ve got dating more figured out (or are married).
